Museum of Ventura County Wedding – Chelsey & Tyler

Museum of Ventura County Wedding

Late last month Chelsey and Tyler had their fairy tale wedding at the Museum of Ventura County. Inspired by Disney’s Up, they had colorful balloons and maps showing their love for adventure. In place of real flowers, they used handmade paper floral arrangements and bouquets.

They started their day getting ready just around the corner at the Clocktower Inn. Chelsey’s wedding dress was a gorgeous tea length gown which she paired with a cathedral length veil. She wore a cute pair of heels that matched the style of her dress perfectly. Tyler being a former Marine, was fitted in his formal dress blues uniform. After they both were ready, they were able to see each other for their first look. Chelsey walked up to him hiding behind a cluster of colorful balloons, so when he turned around, that’s what he saw first. Once she revealed herself the tears started flowing. It’s such an honor for me to be able to capture these intimate, personal moments.

The Ceremony

We all walked the short distance to the Museum of Ventura County so we could start taking some of the formal group portraits before their wedding ceremony began. They had a beautiful ceremony in the main courtyard of the museum! I loved all of the colorful decorations they used to decorate the space. They hung bright paper lanterns from above, and each chair had a different colored sash. It made for a vibrant, lighthearted, and unique wedding ceremony.

After the ceremony, one of their family members had surprised them with a vintage car so they could have some photographs taken in front. The sun was at the perfect place in the sky to help highlight how cool the car looked.

The Reception

I love the way they decorated the reception area, their decorations really gave it a nice whimsical feel. Each table had these cute, little hot air balloon center pieces. All the plates sat on map printed chargers. The cupcakes were multicolored, and the wedding cake looked like the clouds with a map drawn on top. The cake topper read “You are my Greatest Adventure”.

The speeches and cake cutting were all inside, but the dancing was right out the doors in the open air. We had the perfect evening for them to dance their wedding night away.
