Top 10 Unique Wedding Send Off Ideas
The final moments of your wedding day deserve to be epic. As a Santa Barbara wedding photographer, I have seen many grand exits with brides and grooms ecstatically running into the night together! While some exits are classic and timeless, others are one of a kind. Let’s talk about unique wedding send off ideas and how they can add to your wedding day experience.
#1 Toss Lavender
Add a romantic and fresh scent to your send off with lavender! Dried lavender is the perfect addition to your send off, especially if you are planning a Spring or Summer wedding. The herb is biodegradable, so you don’t need to worry about cleaning it up afterward. In addition, it can be mixed with other dried florals for a completely custom scent.
#2 Seeds
Toss bird seeds for your unique wedding send off instead of rice. In the past, rice was used at wedding send offs as it was an affordable way to celebrate the bride and groom. For a more eco-friendly option, that is just as affordable, use bird seeds. You will get the same effect while feeding the wildlife in the area.
#3 Balloons
For an elevated moment, release biodegradable balloons as you exit your wedding. Have each guest hold a balloon as you walk through to exit, then when you are halfway to your getaway ride have them release the balloons. This makes for super fun and celebratory pictures!
#4 Smoke Bombs
Imagine walking through a cloud of color at the end of your wedding day. Smoke bombs are a unique way to have an out of this world experience as you leave your wedding. And for a more consistent stream of smoke, add a smoke fountain to the mix! Be sure to find smoke bombs and fountains that will not stain clothing.
#5 Candles
Do you love the light that comes from sparklers, but are looking for a more subtle and romantic option? Line your exit with candles. This creates the most elegant send off that really embraces the romance of a wedding day. In addition, if you want more light you can also have your guests hold candles to illuminate the entire space.
#6 Release Butterflies
This wedding send off is one that you can only enjoy during a warm daytime exit, but it is so unique it’s worth mentioning! Release butterflies as you exit your wedding to create a playful and magical atmosphere. Each guest can have their own butterfly to release while making a wish for your marriage, or you can have a release cage to let all the the butterflies out at once.
#7 Glow Sticks
Not every wedding venue allows open flames or sparklers. Which may put a damper on your night time wedding exit plans. If this is the case, consider glow sticks. Your guests can aluminate the way as you run through a brightly colorful blur of light, and escape into the night.
#8 Cold Sparklers
Since traditional sparklers aren’t always a safe option and glow sticks aren’t quite the vibe you want, you could always opt for cold sparklers! They have a similar effect with almost none of the fire risk. They can even be used safely indoors without setting off any smoke alarms. A lot of DJs and lighting companies offer them as an add-on option, and even some venues will have them available for rent. Ask your planner if you’re not sure how to get them.
#9 Fireworks
Probably the most epic of all the wedding send off ideas are fireworks. Fireworks are reserved for the most celebratory events. So it just makes sense to have them at your wedding! In addition, you can even have customized fireworks with your wedding colors for a little extra flare.
#10 Pop The Champagne!
Everyone loves a good champagne pop, so why not incorporate it in your unique wedding send off? Have about five people pop a bottle of bubbly while shaking it to create a champagne shower. This may be a little messy, but it will make for an epic exit.
These top 10 unique wedding send off ideas are sure to make a lasting impression on your guests while adding to the fun of your wedding day. Which idea are you going to use?
