Sterling Hills Camarillo Wedding – Molly & Tyler

Sterling Hills Camarillo Wedding

If you want to know who some of the nicest people in the world are, then you’ll want to know Molly and Tyler. Celebrating their wedding with them at Sterling Hills in Camarillo was such an honor. When I first worked with them it was for their engagement session at Vasquez Rocks. They were so fun, nice, sweet… all the good adjectives, I knew I’d love capturing their wedding day! This was another one of those weddings where when my time was over I didn’t really want to leave!

I asked Molly and Tyler to share some details about their wedding, read what they had to say…

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

“Celebrating not only our wedding, but seeing all of the family that has had to stay distant the last year and a half due to Covid. We believe about 95% of the people attending will be fully vaccinated, and with the lessening of restrictions lately, we’re hoping to have as close to a normal wedding as possible.”

What inspired your wedding décor?

“Our love of nature and science.”

Did you have a theme in mind?

“Nature and science. We both majored in Environmental Science at CSU Channel Islands. Both our families have deep connections to southern California, and we love the landscape and geography of where we live.”

Why did you pick the venues that you chose?

“Friends of ours had used Wedgewood in the past, and spoke very highly of that. After touring the grounds, we could see ourselves pictured next to the giant fountain. And the views of the Santa Susana mountains, with the Topa Topa mountains behind those, were too scenic to pass up. Lastly, Camarillo is rather central to most of our families, so a majority of those attending won’t have to travel far.”

What is your favorite feature about your wedding venue?

“The views, landscaping, the fountain, and reception area. Our wedding will only be about half the capacity of the room, so there will be plenty of space for everyone (even if we didn’t have to socially distance).”

Is there any particular vendor that you are really excited to have for your day?

“You, of course! And, Camarillo Cupcakes for their amazing sweets. Wedgewood suggested Sweet Peas Flowers and Gifts for a florist, and upon meeting the woman who runs the store, we couldn’t be more happy with the planning we’ve done so far.”

Tell us about the food/drink at your wedding.

“The food will be a buffet, standard wedding fare. Drinks, the same. (If only we could have brought in Institution and Opolo). Desert, from Camarillo Cupcakes, will be an 8 inch red velvet cake for the wedding party, and mini cupcakes in red velvet and strawberry champagne.”

Which part of your wedding did you want to WOW your guests?

“Our unity ceremony will consist of us adding colored vinegar to a beaker of baking soda (the classic volcano experiment). A guest will be speaking about how these two chemicals exist on their own, but once added together, a new chemical is formed, sodium acetate. No matter what you do, you can’t get the sodium acetate back into either vinegar or the baking soda; all this being a metaphor for the love/marriage.”
