Santa Barbara Women's Club Rockwood

Mikka and Alex got married at the gorgeous Santa Barbara Women’s Club at Rockwood.

The Couple

Mikka and Alex met on OK Cupid and have been together for about 2 years. According to Mikka, “It all started with dogs and whiskey! Our profiles had a 92% ‘match’ on OkCUpid. We ended up having so many RANDOM things in common it’s almost uncanny. Alex is thankful that OkCupid made me stay ‘activated’ for a week.”

Bridal prep

Mikka got her makeup and hair done at her house with a couple of her bridesmaid. Her sweet pup, Abby was there to keep us company. We then headed to the venue for Mikka to get dressed into her gorgeous Maggie Sottero gown from Cruz’s Bridal. It was a subtle blush pink and cream and made her look like a princess.

The ceremony

The ceremony took place in front of the property, underneath a giant oak tree. It was a perfect sunny day for a wedding. After the ceremony, we did some family photos, and then we went for couples portraits, which is always my favorite part of a wedding. I got some awesome couple’s photos in a bushy field area – and Mikka was SUCH a trooper! She walked through the brush in that giant gown and with her heels on! Those are some of my favorite pictures of them so it was totally worth it!

The reception

For the reception, Mikka and Alex had planned to have an anniversary dance in place of a garter or bouquet toss, and it was really sweet to watch all the couples get together on the dance floor. Dinner was buffet style from DJs Catering, tri-tip, chicken, perfectly cooked veggies, DJ’s never disappoints! They had speeches during the reception, then cake cutting, more dancing, lots of mingling, and an overall super fun evening with their family and friends.

I loved this wedding so much at Santa Barbara Women’s Club Rockwood. I’m so lucky to always work with such awesome couples. Mikka even held my camera for me so I could eat her wedding cake (which was delicious btw!)
